Idea Description
After researching about the topic, I created a mind map and mood board. This helped me with my visualization of the concept. I created 3 sketches, I wanted to show what are the unrealistic standards that is why I illustrated my work this way. At first, I visioned a zoomed in- half face of a women with big sharp brows, thick lashes, and big lips. That only this I also imagined the plastic surgery lines marked on the face to perfect the face. I also had an idea of women viewing her screen the impossible beauty standards social media has placed and how unreal it is, but this idea was too oblivious. As for the third idea I have created one person with half a perfect face and the other half natural. So, these are the ideas that came to me once I have done the research about the topic, visual research, and trends research.

I tried to apply what I have learned from the 2021 trends. That’s why I experimented with flat illustrations of variations of lines, grain, gradient, and blur effects. In addition to the usage of Serif typography. I wanted to illustrate the topic and for the illustration to be clear and tell the problem while using the trends we have learned and gone through this art direction.

Designing process
Final poster
I decided to go with this design for multiple reasons. The color scheme is balanced and contrast, I used a Serif font which is on trend, and I have different strokes with different wights. My art direction is to illustrate the issue with flat illustration style using graphic design trends. For example, variation of lines, typography such serif font, and other design elements. This is my direction to approach the project.
My Reflection
I loved working on this project and have gained new knowledge as well. This project has helped me understand more about the new trends in graphic design and apply them while designing the poster.
And it was nice to work with a collaborative group with the same goals. I loved working with the team, we distributed the work between us and we used Share-Point Microsoft to work together. In addition to a WhatsApp group so we can communicate and update each other easily. What is also nice while working with a team is I can see the designers work on their designs with different art styles and directions. And this is good because I can see concepts from a different point of view.
This course is very interesting because we have the chance to learn about different kinds of trends and try them out while working on our assignment. However, even though we learn and apply I think I sometimes face some difficulties about the design, but when I do I try to get feedback and guidance and it always has helped me understand more. I also have experimented with effects like grain, blur, and drop shadow. I used and looked at Serif fonts and it was nice since I tend to use San-serif fonts the most.
I took a suggestion mt team members and made my light pink organic shape into a face structure and I loved the result so much. I also added the drop shadow on the face structure. As for typography, I used Lust Stencil font from Adobe fonts designed by Neil Summerour from Postitype. I added the blue shape and made the font bigger to emphasize the word “Personality”. This is considered a trend the oval shape used with typography makes it more interesting and it attracts the eye. Also, the colors are trendy and have contrast. They relate to the topic of humans and skin. However, the blue gives a bold and serious contrast to show how serious the topic is. So, in my opinion, the colors define the topic well, are suitable, and have meaning to why choose such colors. And For the art direction, I decided to showcase the issue with a flat illustration style featuring trends in lined, typography, and other design elements. This is my way to approach the project and I have learned a lot through the process.
